The bouquet contains herbs, cloves, asparagus, and cinnamon. "Silky", says Eduardo. "Smells likes the pan after sautˇing garlic and rosemary," says Judd. This Cos is more firmly structured than the last bottle we had of it. It holds for a long time. A real lip smacker. Eduardo 91. stefan 92. stefanJr 91. T 91. Judd 90. Lucie 90.

78 Cos d'Estournel [St Estephe] A really great nose here with an expressive complex bouquet. The palate is a little metallic though and the finish is a bit of a disappointment compared to the quality of the aromatics. I cannot believe how vibrant this still is after 24 years. 90 pts.

'78 Cos d' Estournel: obviously Bordeaux on the nose. Open up after a few minutes and had a wonderful sweet almost carmel-like nose buttressed by some light cedar and Cos spice. Medium-bodied and really calling for consumption now. The wine was nice for about an hour but then started to crack-up. Don't get me wrong - this is classic mature Bordeaux and paired with the beef tenderloin perfectly. I just would not be holding these for much longer if I had them cellared.
