| ‘00 St. Cosme Cotes du Rhone. $11. Dark purple/red color that extends to the rim. The nose is wonderful and multi-layered offering dark fruit, bacon fat, spice and wet animal fur. The nose mellows a bit with time but initially it does have that stinkiness that you either love or hate. The wine is dense and concentrated on the palate. No oak. The mouthfeel is quite plush and velvety. So much fruit that one really does not get a sense of structure but it must be there. Incredible for the price. |
