‘97 Castello di Brolio Chianti Classico. $32. Dark garnet color. Expressive nose of dried cherry and leather with a tiny dash of toasty oak thrown in. Lovely, caressing mouth feel. Ample fruit with an impressive length. Acidic enough to go great with food but still elegant. This wine has impressed 3 times with consistent notes. A nice example of the quality of wine coming out of Chianti these days. By the way, this wine won the ‘Tre Bicchieri’ award from Gambero Rosso.
