Varietal: Sangiovese/Chianti

Color almost black, like the color of the few '98 right bankers I have had. Nose was closed at first but offered up some typical Chianti aromas- smoke, spice and tar. Initially the wine was closed to taste but clearly very concentrated. Dense in the mouth. After about an hour it really started to open up and had nice layered fruit with a touch of Oak but not too much. The tannins started to show through but were very well balanced by ample fruit and the finish was almost sweet - anise.
