The color was almost black with a touch of ruby at the edge. This wine looks concentrated. The nose reluctantly offered up black fruit with a floral edge - maybe roses. In the mouth the wine was chunky, full of ripe black fruit and extremely concentrated. Awesome. In fact, I thought I was drinking a "blockbuster" Australian Shiraz. It had that lardy, fat, succulent mouthfeel you get from a good Shiraz in a hot year. The wine had an impressive length with a solid buttery oak underpinning. There was a lot of tannin concealed behind the fruit. My wife, who had only a sip, offered up immediately, "new world."
