| This is a great wine for the money - $15. In fact, it has become my house wine this summer and I am about 4 bottles into a case. A nice golden color in the glass. The nose offers up pears with a touch of minerality. The palate is where this wine really shows it's stuff. An incredible denisty of fruit, pears, melon, fig with a finish that keeps going. Fresh acidity that goes well with food. This wine is nicely concentrated and I can't believe that it is a bourgogne. It drinks up several classes. Perhaps it is a touch too fruity but this is Burgundian fruit, not California, which I can tolerate. It is a happy, easy to drink summer wine that still challenges the drinker. I detect a little oak but oakophobes will not be bothered. For those of you who are Burgundy curious, this wine, along with the '97 LeRoy Bourgogne would make a nice two-step entry into the wonders of Burgundy without the usual sticker-shock. |
