Long clean cork soaked about 1/4 of the way up. Intially closed. The wine captain recommends a decant. I concurred. After about 45 minutes in the ultra it woke up in a big way.

Nose of cedar with that classic graves profile of tobacco and asphalt. Medium bodied to the taste. Not big but powerful and balanced. What great Bordeaux should be. Just a little dry on the finish but the tannin creates the impression of restrained power. The wine kept on opening and was consumed far to quickly in a flurry of conversation and laughter.

If I was going to give points I'd say 95.

Broad, young and nice nose with notes of rasberrys, earth, chocolate and Grappa. Deep. Crushed cherrys-seeds. Tight. Good.
Massive and, I would say, mean taste today. The hardest and most four-square tannins in any wine today. Some notes of dark chocolate, coffee-beans and wood lingers in the background. The mouth is numb after swirling this around! Will the fruit survive? This offers no pleasure today.

I think I blew it and opened this one too early. I don't know what got into me. I had been getting lucky pulling things from the cellar and I thought I was on a roll.
Nose initially tight with some nuts and carmel. Became more spicey over the night with just a touch of the telltale wet animal fur. The palate was mouth-puckering and closed with a dry, tannic finish. Where is the fruit? I kept waiting an hour and going back and it just stayed flat. The good news is that today, after 24 hours on decanter, it was opening up and was a totally different wine with some fruit poking through.
