| 1999 Domaine LeFlaive Bourgogne Blanc. $20. Fresh nose of melon and wet stone. The palate is clean and fresh with pure white fruit and a wonderful counterbalancing minerality - flint and concrete. This wine is bone-dry but not off-putting. I think the acidity and lack of oak really create a different and enjoyable mouthfeel which I am growing to love. It is both light to the touch and dense with flavor at the same time. There was a musky/animal element that I can’t really describe. This wine must have some higher-level fruit smuggled in as it is just to good to be a Bourgogne. A wine made for food. This is why I don’t drink California Chardonnay. Roberto. (Cross-Posted). |
