1995 Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages. Medium-Ruby color with a touch of bricking at the rim. A Bordeaux-like nose except for some toasty oak that emerges. Ample creamy cassis with a freshness which I guess is some acidity. After an hour the wine switches to a more mature mode with some tar and leather elements. A very good wine. Cross-posted.

Dark purple color, very forward fruit. all cassis, good, but no complexity or structure, did not evolve over the course of the dinner. Good California cab (same class as Beringer Knight Valley)

I just finished the last of a 95 Cinc Cepages that I have been nursing for four days. First, it held up well. This is a nice wine, big, soft fruit, mostly cherry and some cassis. Nothing blousey about it. Nice tannins, good nose and a medium short finish. All in all very tasty stuff. I have several left and don't regret it. But, and you knew there would be one, I paid about $28 for this. I paid $30 for the 96 Sociando Mallet and for the 96 Duhart Milon. Honestly, the Cinc is much more drinkable right now, but it very one dimensional and will never get any better.
