Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
Well, 2003 has definetly been a busy and exciting year for me. I spent the first half of the year working a ton of overtime, but by August, the fruits of my labor had been realized. On August 22nd, Erika and I moved into our first house (pics available here). The whole buying a house process was exciting, if a bit stressful at times. The place needed a lot of work though, and now, 4 months after we moved in, we're still working on things. Still, its coming along, if a bit slower than we had imagined, and every week it gets a little closer to being the house we imagined when we went on our first walk through. I've learned a lot about home improvement along the way as well...
The other big news of course is the upcoming wedding. Erika and I are set to tie the knot on Jan 31st in a smallish ceremony in Yosemite. As it turns out, planning a wedding is a lot of work! Of course we knew that when we started, but I don't think anyone is ever really prepared for the seemingly endless number of little details that have to be taken care of. As we fast approach the ceremony though, I'm confident all the effort will have been worth while. It's certainly been fun travelling up to Yosemite every couple of weeks. We'll be having a reception sometime in March to celebrate with everyone, which should be fun.
Between the house and the wedding planning we've managed to fit in a few other fun activities as well. For Erika's birthday this year we went to Sea World and participated in the Trainer for a Day Program (see us in nifty wet suits here). We spent the day travelling around the park while we learned about and played with dolphins, birds, walrus, and killer whales. It was a lot of fun. We also travelled up north for wine tasting with Dan King over memorial day weekend again. As always, it was a great time. Then there was the John Williams concert over the summer, and a Valentine's day trip to the Madonna Inn (we stayed in this room) and Hearst Castle. I also bought a telescope so that we could watch the opposition of Mars in August and the upcoming opposition of Saturn later this month. Both are amazing to see, but especially Saturn with its rings.
So, I hope everyone had a good year in 2003 and I wanted to wish everyone an enjoyable and safe holiday as we close out the year.
